Crazy, huh? But she's actually receiving death threats now.
This is from the article at TPM:
So, inevitably, the crazies started targeting Piven, whose work poses an enormous threat to American undergraduates trying to stay awake in intro sociology, and that's about it. Seems they think they can somehow prevent her from writing an article in a political journal in 1966 that maybe thirteen people outside of Glenn Beck fans have thought about since then? But it's a testament both to Glenn Beck's skill at making shit up, and his fans' ability to be crazy, that some Americans actually care enough about a sociology professor to threaten her.
And if they succeed, Beck won't get in trouble because there'd be no concrete evidence of conspiracy.
ReplyDeleteWell, honestly, it's not really conspiracy, Rena. Beck isn't telling his followers to harm her, or even to threaten her.
ReplyDeleteOf course, at the very least, he's inciting unstable people for his own financial advantage, without really caring what the consequences might be. After all, this isn't the first time one of his fans decided to attack the people Beck demonizes.
But all of Fox "News" - all of News Corp., in fact - is also to blame for not firing Beck the first time this happened.
