Nothing but Taurus

It's the 21st Century, people. Why are we still having this conversation? What's next? Are people still forecasting the future by reading the entrails of a goat?

It's just astonishing how some idiocy never seems to die, isn't it? Even in the most developed nations on Earth?

  1. What's this referring to? Does this refer to something in the news?

  2. Yes, John, although I'm not surprised that you haven't paid any attention to it. It's the kind of idiocy we see in the media on slow news days.

A couple of weeks ago, an astronomer wrote an article in Minnesota's Star Tribune noting that the Earth's axis wobbles, so that current Zodiac signs aren't where they used to be.

Furthermore, he claimed that, since 2009, the North Pole has been pointing at a new part of the sky, which includes the Ophiuchus constellation. That's now supposedly the 13th astrological sign.

Earth-shattering news, huh? Somehow, this got far more attention than it deserves. I realize that I'm doing the same thing here, but what can I say? I thought the cartoon was both funny and accurate. After all, any way you look at it, it's all bull.

  3. "It's all bull" ha ha. See, I knew I was missing something really obvious. Thanks for the background. Sounds like that guy is trying to make a name for him/herself. As silly as astrology is you really can't change it, otherwise this person who is born on this date won't have the soame sign as this person born on the same date of a different year.

That's why they are so popular they are an easy silly way for people to feel a connection to each other.

I had an idea for one of my comicbook series about a college that started to segregate students by astrological sign. It never got written, but it might have been pretty funny and if I got it right the lesson about how stupid any segregation is would have been in there too of course.
