Well, all this is interesting to me, anyway, and that's what matters here. The Internet is a terrible thing for someone like me, who finds almost everything interesting.

The repeal of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'
I like Cenk Uygur's final comment here: "So, once again - shockingly - conservatives a hundred percent wrong. Nicely done."
I wonder when the conservatives will finally accept that America is the land of diversity and freedom for all?
Whether they liked it or not, the military was an early agent of change for racial integration, and women's rights. My father taught me to be anti-racist from things he learned in the military back in the 1940s. I expect other young people will teach their kids about accepting gays from lessons they learned while in military service.
These days, even conservatives give lip service to racial equality, Jim. And you hardly ever see them speaking out in favor of slavery or against women's suffrage.
And remember, "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" used to be the liberal - or, at least, the moderately liberal - position. Conservatives wanted to actively root out homosexuality from our military. Things have already changed that much.
We do advance, as a nation. I don't mean to imply that it's inevitable, but I suspect that they've already lost this battle. Eventually, homosexuality won't be the issue, because even conservatives will accept gay rights. Instead, it will be something else.
And yes, it's kind of funny how the military has led the nation in these social issues. For a long time, the military was the one place racial minorities could get a fair shake (not that it was ever easy, I'm sure).
