Video games a bigger problem than guns?

I like how angry Cenk Uygur gets about this, since he's absolutely right. These people are picking video games as a scapegoat to deflect talk about gun control. That's it.

Well, OK, there's also the fact that they don't play video games themselves, so they don't have the slightest idea what they're talking about (and they don't care).

I blogged about this last week, so I won't go into details here. Suffice to say that there's no evidence video games affect real-world violence. And if you played these games yourself, you'd understand why.

These games are obviously artificial, and they teach no skills applicable to gun violence. Heck, target shooting would be far, far closer to the experience of killing an actual human being than clicking a mouse or a button on a game controller.

Look around the world. Video games are widely popular elsewhere, so why don't those countries show any violent effects from that? But hey, right-wing politicians will do anything they can to deflect blame from guns, won't they?

Don't be gullible enough to believe them.
