I can't comprehend that some people want the world to end. Do they hate this reality that bad?
I don't know, Jim, but I suppose they see it as a vindication of their beliefs. Yeah, they're going to heaven when they die anyway (supposedly), but when it happens normally, they can't shove that in the face of nonbelievers.
But when Armageddon arrives, then they can laugh and say, "I told you so!" Well, maybe not, since presumably they'll be raptured by then. But at least they can know all of the unbelievers - and all of the believers in every other religion - will be admiring the few who saw the light.
That... justification of their life would be very powerful, emotionally. Who wouldn't want to be proven right about everything? And gated communities are always better if everyone else is just green with envy.
