Dear Malala

Taslima Nasreen has written a letter to Malala Yousafzai:
Pakistani schoolgirl activist Malala Yousafzai, who was shot in the head by the Taliban, is getting better following the treatment she has been receiving at Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital, UK. She says she is recovering because of god and prayers. ...

Malala, you say that you are recovering because of god and prayers. But the truth is, you were shot because of god and prayers, and you are recovering because of medical science and skilled doctors.

Such a tragedy, isn't it? How could anyone shoot a little girl in the head, just because you disagree with what she's been saying? Well, that kind of evil takes religion, doesn't it?

Ironically, she believes in the same religion they do! Her disagreement is minor indeed. But no, educated women apparently threaten the patriarchal misogynists who want to control them.

Taslima is right. It's religion that got Malala shot, and it's secular science that's given her a chance at recovery.

Note that, if her attackers had merely prayed at her, there would be nothing to recover from. I wish these loons actually believed in their god, because then maybe they wouldn't think they'd need to help their omnipotent, omniscient deity kill someone.
