How much of a political hit do think Obama is going to take over the one-year insurance extension?
In the LJS the other day, Jody P and the usual right-wing peanut gallery were screaming impeachment (again), this time charging Obama with fraud. Oops, the Senate is controlled by the Democrats. Too bad, Jody. :)
But with Obama's one-year extension news conference the other day, how will this affect the off-year elections?
Those are two different questions, Jeff. The off-year elections are problematic anyway, because Democrats aren't reliable voters then. That's the problem we had in 2010, too. Republicans actually VOTE.
But this certainly doesn't help. And it doesn't help that Democrats are such cowards they're falling all over themselves to 'fix' Obamacare in ways that will badly damage it.
That one-year extension is the same way, I'm afraid. Note that the vast majority of Americans aren't affected by Obamacare one way or another. And most of those who are will be much better off with it. So we're talking about a minority of a minority who'll be negatively affected.
But, of course, Republicans can make political hay out of every problem. However, if there's no problem, they'll invent one. So I would have just let them scream about Obamacare, as they've done for years now. It's just become background noise to most people.
But by reacting to it, the Democrats are basically vindicating Republican opposition, the last thing they should be doing.
