Why are Democrats so very bad at this stuff? It's not rocket science. After all, if Republicans can do it, how hard can it be?
But Democrats tend to be just embarrassingly inept at the political side of things. They're arguing about the "killing" part of describing their health care bill as "job-killing"? Really? No problem with "job-destroying," then? It's not the substance, but just the language, that's the problem? You're just conceding the basic idea itself?
Furthermore, I'm with them when it comes to rhetoric that promotes, or even just romanticizes, gun violence as a means of settling political problems: "by ballot or by bullet," "Second Amendment remedies," etc. But attacking words and phrases that we all use every day - "killing" a legislative bill, "targeting" customers, etc. - is just political correctness run amok.
And, of course, that's exactly how the right-wing has succeeded in defining "political correctness" to most Americans - as a laughably ridiculous attempt by liberal Nazis to completely gut the English language. (Oh. Maybe I can't use the word "gut" anymore?)
The sad fact is, some liberals - and even some moderate Democrats - give them evidence for that exact interpretation. This is a perfect example. And it's not just that inept Democrats are targeting - excuse me, focusing on - a perfectly innocent use of the word "killing," but that they're so inept as to seem to confirm Republican claims that the bill really does, in fact, kill - er, destroy - jobs.
Why are Democrats so very bad at this stuff?

Note: Sorry about the lack of posts the past couple of days. I've had computer problems. I think I've got it fixed now, but I'm not entirely sure.
