If you're a fan of space exploration, check out History of Flight at Abstruse Goose.
Well, all this is interesting to me, anyway, and that's what matters here. The Internet is a terrible thing for someone like me, who finds almost everything interesting.

That pretty much sums it up, we acomplished so much in half a century and since then we've fallen into a rut. The 20th century was the century of invention, but we still don't know what the 21st century will be. So far it's the century of corporations.
We used to be a bold "can-do" sort of people. Now, we seem to be a timid little people, fearful and apathetic both.
We don't "believe" in science. We don't see education as critical. And we're not willing to compete with China, figuring "oh, what's the use?" We've given up without even trying. All we want are constant tax cuts...
But we never stop proclaiming how "exceptional" we are. I guess we think if we say it often enough, it will come true. Yeah, that's magical thinking for sure.
I wonder what's happened to us. How did we end up this way? There are still plenty of intelligent, capable, and bold Americans, of course. But only as individuals. What has happened to us as a people?
