My New Year's resolution

My New Year's resolution is to keep laughing. The alternative, after all, is to cry.

Still, I don't know how long I can keep this resolution. How black can things get and still let me laugh?

Since the country has decided to revert to a juvenile mentality, I've decided to revert to my childhood, too; I'm going to "play" with trains.

Strange as this sounds, I find these train YouTubes to be therapeutic (I've been a train nerd since I was a kid).

One of these days I'm going to get out to North Platte and check out that Bailey Yard observation tower.

Train-watching, huh? To each his own. :)

Jeff, I was never interested in watching trains. I've lived near enough the tracks my entire life, so they've just been a fact of life.

But at night, I used to love listening to them, imagining being on a train, going somewhere unknown (to me, at least) in the middle of the night.

As Bilbo Baggins said, "The road goes ever on and on..."

I've always said a Nebraska town isn't a Nebraska unless it has a grain elevator and a train rolling by next to it. Beatrice doesn't have that luxury anymore. UP ripped their line out over 20 years ago, and the BNSF line on the west end of town is used sparingly.
