Galileo confirmed on the Moon

Somehow, I missed this years ago, but thankfully, we have YouTube these days. The video clip shows Commander David Scott during the last Apollo 15 moon walk in 1971 as he tests Galileo's conclusion that objects of different mass will fall, in a vacuum, at the same speed.

Neat, isn't it? And note that you've probably got more computing power in your cell phone than NASA had available back then to get us to the Moon. It's inspiring to think of what we can do when we have the guts and the determination to try.

My thanks to Why Evolution Is True for the link - and for Matthew Cobb's interesting post about turning Aristotle's views into dogma in the 13th Century, something which endangered Galileo more then three centuries later.
