John F. Kennedy: Because it is there

"We choose to go to the Moon…not because it is easy, but because it is hard." You've heard that line. Have you heard the rest of the speech?

Actually, this isn't the full speech, either. Heh, heh. But this excerpt is great, isn't it?

We have become complacent, indeed. I have my doubts that we have the "can-do" spirit that took us to the moon.
We are either too busy arguing amongst ourselves or are too fascinated with Kim Kardashian's enormous butt ("heaven" help us, she's pregnant AGAIN). To top it all off, we're also too busy engaging in our favorite pastime...."The Great American Cash-Grab" as I call it.

The British have a phrase for our present condition: "navel-gazing;" self-importance bordering on narcissism.

Sorry I haven't been able to correspond with you as much lately.I'm at one of my low ebbs in terms of "opining" and I've been occupied with other things. Maybe that's a good thing. :)

No problem, Jeff. I'm at a low ebb in blogging - no book reviews, no game posts, no Bible study. If it's not a video - something I can post quickly and easily - I don't do it.

And that's not likely to change - not anytime soon, at least - so I'm glad you stick around at all. Comment or not, it's up to you. I know about being occupied with other things.

Anyway, I hope everything is going well for you.
