James Randi psychic surgery



This is James Randi on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, sometime in the 1980s, demonstrating how con artists perform 'psychic surgery' on suckers. Neat, isn't it?

This is just a marketing stunt (for a remake of the movie, Carrie), but it's pretty funny, isn't it?

Look at how scared many of those people seem to be. Come on. If you witnessed something like this, wouldn't your first thought be that it was a trick?

We know that stage magicians, among others, can do seemingly amazing things, while we've never seen any evidence of psychic powers. So why would you assume that this was real?

Of course, those people could have been actors themselves, but I don't think so. Not from what I've heard, at least.
