What did we Americans expect, that Republicans wouldn't do all the crazy things they promised they would?
Then again, pretty much the first thing they tried to do, after last year's election, was to try to end Medicare. And that was after campaigning on defending Medicare from the Democrats!
Still, our problem seems to be ignorant, ill-informed - misinformed - voters who vote only their unhappiness, when they can be bothered to vote at all. Yes, in a democracy, we get the kind of government we deserve.
Well, that would be just fine, except that we're all in this together. We're stuck with each other, so we get the kind of government, we get the kind of society, we collectively deserve.
There's no way around that. Democracy may not be great, but it's the best form of government we've yet discovered. But please, please don't bring me down. Pay attention, use evidence and reason to make your decisions, and vote!
