Ah, yes, the "war on Christmas" is back. Wonderful, isn't it? And sure, Fox "News" is lying, but that's what they do. Just think of it as getting in the Christmas spirit.

And history? History? Fox will give you your history! They just make it up as they go along. That's how historians do it, isn't it?

But in this second clip, Jon Stewart joins the war. Yup, we're bringing out the big guns now!

"That is why tonight I must make the hardest decision that any anchor of a fake news program has to make... Tonight, I come before you to declare war on Christmas."

Funny, huh? Now, how many of these right-wing loons will forget that this is a comedy show?

Dec. 13 edit:  As Jon Stewart announced last night, PolitiFact gave his claim that Congress met on Christmas Day for most of its first 67 years a "pants on fire" rating. Actually, that wasn't Stewart's claim, exactly. He just played an excerpt from the History Channel which made that assertion.

But apparently, you can't trust the History Channel when it comes to history. According to PolitiFact, this happened only once, for each body, during that time. The House of Representatives met in session on Christmas Day in 1802. The Senate assembled on Christmas in 1797, but then immediately adjourned.

It might be understandable that a comedy show would accept the History Channel's word on this, but it was still a mistake. And to his credit, Jon Stewart admitted that. I think the rest of what he said here is still perfectly valid, though.
