So, Mitt Romney is rebooting his campaign. And how is that different from shaking the Etch-A-Sketch one more time? Romney has been nothing but reboots, hasn't he?

But anyway, regarding that leaked video, regarding those 'gaffes,' will this actually hurt him? Keep in mind that no one will be voting for Romney anyway unless they're white, far right-wing, and - as Rick Santorum might put it - not particularly bright.

I mean, which votes will he actually lose?

Republicans never look at themselves in these comparisons. Do you really think his elderly white supporters, all on Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and/or VA health care, think of themselves as sucking on the government teat, even though they may no longer pay federal income tax?

Of course not! Hey, I've heard them. Romney just means those black - excuse me, 'urban' - welfare queens, right?

Do you think this is going to keep poor, completely faith-based, evangelical Christians from voting for him? They might not make enough to pay income taxes, but this is a matter of God vs the Anti-Christ, isn't it? Besides, as I say, they'll never think that Romney means them - not the salt-of-the-Earth, deeply Christian, white, small-town America.

Mitt Romney doesn't seem to be backing away from this, and I think that's because his campaign doesn't see any downside from it. I mean, if you're already thinking of voting for Romney, what part of this will bother you - especially since almost none of his supporters will apply it to themselves anyway, whether they always pay income tax or not? (I'll point out that fewer people pay income taxes in an economic collapse, because fewer people are making much money.)

Keep in mind that Romney's supporters are OK with even more tax cuts for the wealthy, despite the record-breaking deficits that gave us during the Bush administration. So this video clip is going to bother them? I can't imagine that it will make any difference at all. No one whose mindset is based on reason and evidence was going to be voting for Romney anyway.

But for chuckles, here's Stephen Colbert's take on it:
